I Lived for three years in Cyprus, it was a wonderful time of my life full of sunshine, blue skies and delicious mediterranean food. I can't help it but every time I see ripened tomatoes on the vine I'm reminded of this time of my life.
 
So to celebrate the beginning of summer and hopefully long warm summer days and alfresco eating, I though it would be fun to make a very different statement necklace of sun ripened tomatoes. 
 
This necklace also continued my aim for my making this year and that's to follow my heart more by adding more colour, joy and whimsy to my work.
 
Each piece of leather is cut by hand and meticulously fitted together using my unique leather marquetry technique. Once all the leather pieces are assembled, I stitch them together using my trusty companion, 'Gerty', a 1960's Pfaff rolling-foot sewing machine. Finally, I add the finishing touches to bring the piece to life.
